MUSIC HUM EXEMPTION: Friday, September 7th, 10:00-11:30 am, 622 DODGE
The exemption exam for W1123: Masterpieces of Western Music (aka Music Humanities) will last about 90 minutes. It requires identification of major musical masterworks, comments on features of style such as texture, meter, and mode, and short answers on principal musical terms and concepts. Students who wish to take the exemption exam must do so at this time; students may not take the exam twice, or at a later date.

If you have ever wondered how the digital devices you use every day manage to do the extraordinary things they do, then consider taking ELEN E1101: The Digital Information Age. This course is given by the Department of Electrical Engineering for non-engineering majors, and satisfies the
Each student is invited to be an engineer for one semester - to think quantitatively, to appreciate the creativity involved in the design of common digital systems, and experience the satisfaction of understanding the inner workings of our digital environment. The topics for the course were selected by starting with the devices we encounter daily, such as mp3 players, cell phones, webcams, the "Wiimote" and so on, and then including the physical and mathematical principles that explain their operation. A working knowledge of algebra is the only math prerequisite.
Anyone who can think logically will enjoy this course!
