SSOL is no longer available this semester to DROP classes. You must use an Add/Drop form and take it to the Registrar’s Office in 205 Kent Hall. ** Make sure that you include your UNI, C# or SS# on the top of ALL Add/Drop forms

We are all familiar with the linear “roman numeral” approach to taking notes. However, does it really work? In this workshop, you will explore alternative methods of note taking. You will look at ways you can really access your notes for studying purposes.


Stress Management Workshop
Date: Friday October 5, 2007

Location : Shapiro Dorm Lounge

Attend a workshop to find out what triggers stress and identify your personal stressors. You will get an opportunity to practice different stress management strategies and find ways to fit these strategies into a busy schedule.

Thinking of studying abroad this spring? Keep the following deadlines in mind:

Program application deadlines vary: Most are October 1-15th
Clearance Deadline: Monday, October 15
If you are planning on studying abroad this spring, you should meet with Dean Scott Carpenter (105 Carman) by the October 15th deadline for approval to study abroad (clearance).

Returned Student Panels/Regional Meetings

Come hear returned study abroad students speak about their experiences abroad. Hear first-hand stories about living in Senegalese homestays, managing the Argentine transport system, acing the end of term exams at LSE in London, living in France like a Parisian. These panels are Columbia students who studied abroad last year telling you their stories and taking your questions. Not to be missed if you are planning on studying abroad! Meeting are grouped by broad geographic region and students who studied in various countries will speak about their host country and experiences.

Multicultural Recruitment Committee (MRC)

Members of the Multicultural Recruitment Committee (MRC) Volunteer Network are integral members of the Undergraduate Admissions Multicultural Recruitment Program.

The MRC focuses on reaching out and recruiting prospective applicants of color, first generation college students, and those from high-need family backgrounds. MRC Volunteers serve as representatives for CC and SEAS and assist in planning and implementing the MRC Open House, the Engineering Hosting Program, & Perspectives on Diversity.

Through the MRC, students will have the opportunity to visit their high school, to serve as a liaison between the Admissions Office and campus organizations and to work with the Undergraduate Recruitment Committee (URC) on attending local college fairs.

The MRC Volunteer Network is open to all students. If you’re interested, applications are available in 212 Hamilton Hall and are due on October 4th. If you would like to receive an electronic version of the application, please email Elizabeth Pili at ep2258@columbia.edu .
