SIPA Five-Year Program

The SIPA Five-Year Program offers a select few students enrolled in Columbia’s undergraduate colleges the opportunity to earn a Master of International Affairs (MIA) or Master of Public Administration (MPA) degree in conjunction with their undergraduate degree.

Students accepted into this combined Bachelor’s/Master’s program will take SIPA graduate courses during their senior year of undergraduate studies, in addition to their college requirements, while remaining registered officially at their college. Students accepted into combined program will matriculate at SIPA in their last year.

Application for the combined program is made through the Center for Student Advising, using a special application form. Applications for the Fall 2008 cycle will be available in early December 2007, and must be returned to the respective college Dean’s office no later than January 25, 2008.

Euretta J. Kellet Fellowship – The Kellet Fellowship is open to all graduating Columbia College seniors. It awards up to two years of graduate study to either Oxford or Cambridge. The Kellet application must be submitted to The Fellowships Office by November 15, 2007 at 5 p.m.

The Harry S. Truman Scholarship Program – The Truman Scholarship provides up to $ 30,000 in graduate funding to students interested in pursuing graduate degrees in public service fields. This scholarship is open to students in their junior year. AILE Program with Columbia Law

Come learn about the Accelerated Interdisciplinary Law Education (AILE) Program and with Columbia Law and the application process. The 2008 application will be distributed at the meeting.

The AILE Program annually provides up to one or two College and SEAS students with OUTSTANDING academic records (3.7 GPA minimum and 170 or better LSAT score) the opportunity to earn the B.A. or B.S. and the J.D. degree in six years. Students interested in the AILE Program must complete ALL of the following requirements by the end of their junior year (when they enter law school):

SEAS:

1. 96 credits at Columbia

a. Transfer students are ineligible.

2. The 18 point required courses for the Liberal Arts Non-Tech Requirement

a. Students may have no more than 9 points left to complete the required
27 points but may use the 12 point GSAS requirement to fulfill the non-tech requirement with Dean's approval

3. A major completed


Columbia College:

1. 93 credits at Columbia

a. Transfer students are ineligible

2. All of the Core Curriculum completed

3. A major or concentration completed

Students who have not completed ALL of the above requirements by the end of their junior year are ineligible for AILE.

Juniors applying this year will need to have taken the LSAT by no later than February 2008.

Multicultural Recruitment Committee (MRC)

Members of the Multicultural Recruitment Committee (MRC) Volunteer Network are integral members of the Undergraduate Admissions Multicultural Recruitment Program.

The MRC focuses on reaching out and recruiting prospective applicants of color, first generation college students, and those from high-need family backgrounds. MRC Volunteers serve as representatives for CC and SEAS and assist in planning and implementing the MRC Open House, the Engineering Hosting Program, & Perspectives on Diversity.

Through the MRC, students will have the opportunity to visit their high school, to serve as a liaison between the Admissions Office and campus organizations and to work with the Undergraduate Recruitment Committee (URC) on attending local college fairs.

The MRC Volunteer Network is open to all students. If you’re interested, applications are available in 212 Hamilton Hall and are due on Thursday, October 4th. If you would like to receive an electronic version of the application, please email Elizabeth Pili at ep2258@columbia.edu
